MENS LACROSSE UNABLE TO HOLD EARLY LEAD
The Muhlenberg mens lacrosse team started out strong, but squandered an early lead and suffered a 10-6 loss at Haverford in its first road game of the season. The Mules (4-2, 0-2) took a 3-0 lead by scoring three goals in the first 7:20. They did not score again, however, for more than 42 minutes, and by then the Fords (2-4, 1-2) had taken a 6-3 lead. Freshman James Robinson scored two goals, and classmate John Westendorf had a goal and two assists. Freshmen Justin Hollander and Chris Ewbank led Muhlenberg with five ground balls apiece. |
Senior Lynsey Caldwell set a school record with five assists as the
Freshman Courtney Tapkas scored six goals for the second time in three games. She has four consecutive hat tricks and leads the team with 23 goals. Freshman Shannon Donohue also had a hat trick with three goals. Tapkas scored four of the Mules first five goals, helping them open up a 7-1 lead in the first 18 minutes. Muhlenberg led by as many as 11 goals (15-4) before the Red Devils (1-3, 0-1) scored three late goals. Caldwell broke the school record of four assists in a game, set four times previously twice by her. The programs all-time assists leader has 12 assists in six games, just seven shy of the school record she set last year. The Mules set a team record with 11 assists in the game. |
