The Muhlenberg softball team continued to struggle, dropping a doubleheader at Moravian by scores of 8-0 and 10-2 to extend its winless skid to 10 games.

The Mules (1-12) managed only six hits in the two games and have scored only 12 runs in their 10-game drought.

Junior Meghan Woods gave Muhlenberg a 2-0 lead in the top of the first of Game 2 by lining a double to straightaway center field with runners on second and third. But the Greyhounds (14-4), who were ranked 20th in the Division III preseason poll, tied the score in the bottom of the inning and took the lead for good in the next frame. The Mules had just one hit – a single by Woods – after the first inning.

Janelle Brey hit three home runs in the twinbill for Moravian.

Muhlenberg will get to wipe its slate clean when it begins Centennial Conference play on Saturday against Gettysburg.

The Mule (2-3, 2-2) players combined to lose only 24 games in the nine matches. The 9-0 shutout was the first ever for Muhlenberg against the Bullets (0-3, 0-3).

Schmidt, playing at second singles, recorded her second consecutive 6-0, 6-0 victory and has won 24 games in a row.

Juniors Gena Ross, Mackenzie Parke and Sarah Niebler joined Schmidt and Oster as winners at both singles and doubles.

• Golf: After having its scheduled opener postponed twice, the Muhlenberg men’s golf team finally got its spring season off to a good start, finishing third at the Susquehanna Tee-Off Tournament.

The Mules had a team total of 309, 10 strokes behind Susquehanna and five behind Gettysburg.

Junior Matt Katz matched the best finish of his career by tying for fourth place with a 75 at the par-70 Susquehanna Valley Country Club. Senior Todd Scolnick was one stroke behind.
