Berg Reaches Milestone in Softball Finale
Senior Kelly Berg became the 15th member of the 100-hit club, but the Muhlenberg softball team dropped a pair of games on its final day of competition at the Rebel Spring Games in Florida. The Mules finished with a 1-6 record. In the opening game, a 5-1 loss to Widener, Berg tripled in the first and scored on a passed ball for Muhlenbergs lone run. Her 100th hit was a third-inning single. Senior Kristen Best also had a pair of hits in the game. Freshman Kristina Cartolano struck out four of the first six batters she faced before allowing three unearned runs in the third. The Mules managed only five hits in falling to John Carroll, 12-2, in the second game. Junior Jackie Maser led Muhlenberg with a .400 batting average on the trip, while junior Becki Toth hit .360 with three stolen bases. Baseball Swept: The Muhlenberg baseball team dropped a pair of games in Florida to fall to 4-3. The Mules were defeated by Becker, 13-11, and by Division I Mount St. Marys, 7-3.
