The Muhlenberg women’s tennis team earned its second straight shutout, 9-0 against Franklin & Marshall.

The Mules (5-3, 5-2), who scored their first shutout ever against F&M (3-4, 2-3), have won five straight matches, winning 43 of 44 points during the streak. They also extended their homecourt winning streak to 17.

Freshman Amy Schmidt at No. 2 singles won 6-1, 6-0 and sophomore Emily Oster at fourth singles won 6-0, 6-2. Juniors Gena Ross, Mackenzie Parke, and Megan Schreiber won at both doubles and singles.

Freshman Catherine Denenberg had the privilege to play against her twin sister Elizabeth at No. 3 doubles, winning 8-3.

Freshman Chris Walach shot a two-over-par 73 at Southmoore Golf Course to lead the Muhlenberg men’s golf team to a third-place finish at the Moravian Spring Invitational.

It was the second-straight third-place showing this spring for the Mules. They actually tied two other teams for second place with a score of 309, but the tie was broken by the fifth-man score. Muhlenberg was only two strokes behind tournament champion New Jersey.

Junior Jesse Neider, playing for the first time since last year’s Moravian Invitational, tied for 10th place with a 77.

Brodowski’s two-day score of 6,181 points easily eclipsed the provisional standard of 6,000. The automatic qualifying mark is 6,550.

Brodowski is the first Centennial Conference athlete to top 6,000 points in the decathlon, breaking the league record of 5,914. He also broke his own school record of 5,836.

• Baseball: The Muhlenberg baseball team scored four runs in the fifth inning to overcome a 4-1 deficit and went on to defeat Swarthmore, 5-4.

Sophomore Matt Long drove in the tying run with a double to right-center, then scored what proved to be the winning run by stealing third and continuing home when the catcher’s throw went into left field. Senior Justin Rubenstein also had an RBI hit in the decisive rally, which began with two out and nobody on.

Sophomore Aaron Regensburg tossed 6 1/3 solid innings to earn his second win of the season. Senior Kevin Komeshok worked out of a bases-loaded jam in the seventh and pitched 2 2/3 scoreless innings to record his 10th career save (one short of the school record).

Senior Justin Graf stole three bases for the Mules (12-6, 3-2), giving him 25 for the season (two short of the school record).
