Due to the snow, Wednesday’s baseball game against Misericordia has been rescheduled for Thursday.
SNOW CAN’T PREVENT FIRST
SPRING WIN FOR MEN’S TENNIS

Gaspare Pizzo
After teaming with Reading for an 8-4 No. 3 doubles victory, senior Gaspare Pizzo came back from a set down to win his singles match.
A March snowstorm greeted Muhlenberg students fresh off spring break, but it didn’t slow down the men’s tennis team, which took its act inside Dietrich Field House and defeated Moravian, 6-1, for its first win of the spring season.

The pivotal doubles match came at No. 1, where Muhlenberg’s team of junior Jeff Kraft and senior Brian Barkauskas stayed on serve with Moravian until the score was 6-5. The Mules got the first break of the match in the 12th game, with Barkauskas hitting a deep lob with the Greyhound players at the net on game point. Barkauskas then served out the match to give Muhlenberg the 8-5 win and, ultimately, the doubles point.

The Mules (1-1) took five of the six singles matches. Junior Mitchell Reading lost the first set at No. 3, 6-3, but came back to take the final two, 6-4, 6-2. Kraft and sophomores Brad Gutwillig and Adam Nodiff all posted straight set victories.

The win gives Muhlenberg a 7½-5½ lead in the Matte Award standings. The next Matte contest is men’s lacrosse, originally scheduled for Wednesday.
