The doubles point proved crucial when the teams split the singles matches. The sophomore tandem of Brad Gutwillig and Adam Nodiff won, 8-4, at No. 2, and junior Mitchell Reading and senior Gaspare Pizzo took third doubles, 8-6. Gutwillig, Nodiff and Reading all won their singles matches in straight sets to give the Mules (2-1) the singles split they needed. Gutwillig had the closest win of the three, taking his first set, 6-4, then requiring an 8-6 tiebreaker to claim the second. Now at 3-0, Nodiff has Muhlenbergs top singles record this spring. Pizzo and Reading are 2-1 as a doubles pair. |
