Senior Erases Oldest Record in Book
Frank Santini is making a habit of outdoing himself. A week after posting the best throw of his career at the
Santini broke the oldest standing Muhlenberg indoor record, set by Scott Orens with a throw of 47 feet, nine inches in 1975. Two other Mules recorded personal bests. Junior Katie Macomber placed third in the womens 200 meters in 27.99, and freshman Lex Mercado ran the 800 in 1:55.90 to place third. The womens distance medley relay team also finished third, and freshman Jacquelyn Inverso placed second in the triple jump. The Mules will open the outdoor track and field season March 20 at the DeSales Invitational. |
The Muhlenberg mens lacrosse team continued its dominance of
opposition from outside the Centennial Conference with a season-opening
21-5 win against DeSales, its fifth straight non-conference win.
Led by sophomore James Robinsons career-high five scores, Muhlenberg tied the school record for goals in a game, set
Sophomore Dave Armstrong and freshman Cliff Burwell each recorded four goals and two assists to lead the Mules in points. Robinson started the scoring 59 seconds in and the Mules added three more before the Bulldogs (0-1) got on the board. DeSales cut the Berg lead to 4-3 late in the first quarter, but the Mules rattled off the next 15 goals and held the Bulldogs scoreless until the fourth. Nine different Mules scored points, including sophomore Galen Marsh, who had three goals and one assist, and freshman Sean Toohill, who added two goals and a helper. |
