![]() A weekly look at whats going on in the Centennial Conference:
Johns Hopkins (30-0, 15-0) rolled on, clinching a playoff berth with sweeps of McDaniel, Haverford and Swarthmore ... Franklin & Marshall (20-13, 11-4) took sole possession of second place with a sweep of McDaniel ... Dickinson (12-15-1, 9-5-1), Ursinus (14-11-2, 9-6) and McDaniel (15-9, 9-7) are all bunched together in the standings, and Haverford (18-9, 7-8) still has a mathematical shot at the playoffs.
Gettysburg (13-2, 8-0) clinched the top seed for the CC playoffs with an 18-11 win against Haverford ... Franklin & Marshall scored a big 12-8 win against Ursinus; the two teams are currently tied for fourth place, behind McDaniel and Washington.
Washington rallied from a three-goal deficit to remain undefeated (12-0, 5-0) with a 10-8 win against Franklin & Marshall ... Dickinson moved to 4-1 in the CC with a 2-0 week, including a 19-7 victory against the Mules next opponent, Swarthmore. |
Freshman Nicole Washburn has become the second member of the
Muhlenberg softball team in as many weeks to be named Centennial
Washburn pitched her first career shutout, a four-hitter, to lead Muhlenberg to a 1-0 win that completed a doubleheader sweep of McDaniel on Saturday. After getting out of a first-inning jam with two runners on via a leadoff double and a walk, Washburn allowed only one more runner to reach second base and did not walk a batter. She recorded two strikeouts. With a 5-2 record, Washburn is tied for the team lead in wins. She has a 3.61 ERA with 12 strikeouts and has completed three of her four starts. Her selection comes one week after senior Danielle DeLucia received-pitcher-of-the-week honors. HAVERFORD DEFEATS MENS TENNIS The Muhlenberg mens tennis team lost its final match of the year to Haverford, 6-1. Junior Jeff Kraft secured the only point for the Mules (5-7, 2-6) with a win at No. 1 singles. He dropped the first set and fought off several match points before taking the second set in a tiebreaker and the third in a supertiebreaker. The Mules will compete at the Centennial Conference Individual Championships this weekend. |
