Wilson “Willie” Hendricks, a beloved fixture in the Muhlenberg equipment room, was killed in a car accident on Monday night. He was 60.

The news stunned not only the athletic department, but the entire Muhlenberg community. Hendricks had the longest tenure of any employee at the College. He began working in 1967 in the maintenance department and moved to the equipment room in 1981. Thousands of athletes came to know “Willie” and his unique style over the years.

For his many contributions to Muhlenberg, Hendricks received the Scotty Wood Community Service Award in 2002.

The viewing and funeral will be on Saturday, July 31, at Grace Lutheran Church, St. John and South Hall Streets, Allentown. The viewing will be held from 9:00 to 10:15, with the funeral scheduled to begin at 10:30.
