The Muhlenberg men’s lacrosse team suffered its first loss of the season, 17-5 at 12th-ranked Lynchburg.

The Hornets (4-0) jumped on a Mule defense that had allowed only 11 goals in its first two games, scoring six in the first seven minutes to open up a 6-0 lead.

Muhlenberg (2-1) came right back to cut the deficit in half with three straight goals, the last two by junior Brian Schimaneck.

Down 8-3 in the second, the Mules had three consecutive extra-man opportunities, but could not convert any of them. Lynchburg scored the final four goals of the half and held a commanding lead the rest of the way.
