second day of the Rebel Spring Games at Kissimmee, Fla. The Mules defeated Marietta, 7-2, but suffered a 14-2 loss to ninth-ranked Washington (Mo.).

Freshman Katie Vecchione made her first career start a memorable one against Marietta, pitching a complete game to earn the win. She allowed 13 hits, but walked no one and got great defensive support. Two of Vecchione’s three strikeouts came against the top two hitters in the Pioneer lineup with two runners in scoring position in the fourth.

Junior Andrea Cohen led the offense with a pair of doubles, a two-out, two-run two-bagger in the second and an RBI double in a four-run seventh. Junior Lindsay Ruhling was involved in each of the three innings in which Muhlenberg scored, plating three runs.

In the second game, Washington hit the ball hard and often, smacking six doubles and a home run among its 13 hits. Sophomore Hilary Marinchak threw out a runner at home from center field to end the top of the first, but the Bears scored two runs in the second and broke the game open with five in the fourth.

Seniors Kadie Serfass came through with a two-out RBI single in the second for the Mules.
