MENS TENNIS FALLS AT E-TOWN
In its first road match of the spring, the Muhlenberg mens tennis team was defeated by a 5-2 score by Elizabethtown, the defending Commonwealth Conference champion. Sophomore James Goldman won at both doubles and singles, winning a marathon match at No. 4 singles in which the first two sets went to tiebreakers. |
Womens Basketball Ranked 20th in Final Poll
The Mules, who set a school record for wins with a 26-3 record and captured their first Centennial Conference championship in eight years, were ranked 15th before falling to Mary Washington in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. Mary Washington went on to lose in the next round to Bowdoin, which was defeated by Southern Maine in the Elite Eight. Southern Maine knocked off Hardin-Simmons in a national semifinal, but lost to Hope in the championship game. Muhlenberg, therefore, lost to the team that lost to the team that lost to the team that lost to the team that won the national championship. Womens basketball is the first Muhlenberg team to end a year ranked in the national top 20 since football was ranked 17th in Division III in the final 2002 poll. The Mules were 22nd in the Womens Basketball Coaches Association final poll. |
