Softball Honor “RiRi”-turns to Muhlenberg

Ferrigno Freshman catcher RiRi Ferrigno of the Muhlenberg softball team has been named player of the week by the Centennial Conference.

The second Mule in as many weeks to earn the honor, Ferrigno led Muhlenberg to a 4-0 week with her offense and defense. At the plate, she hit .500 with three runs scored, four RBI and five doubles, tying the school record of three doubles in a game against Swarthmore. Behind the plate, she caught three consecutive shutouts, threw out the only runner who attempted to steal and picked another runner off first base.

The four wins extended Muhlenberg’s winning streak to six and put the team back to the .500 mark at 14-14. The Mules are in third place in the Centennial Conference with a 7-3 league mark.

For the season, Ferrigno leads the Centennial with 11 doubles, just two away from the school record. She also leads Muhlenberg in batting average (.302), hits (26) and RBI (18).
