Junior Sarah Mitchell finished first and hit the NCAA provisional qualifying mark in the javelin at the Villanova Tuppeny Twilight Meet. Her winning distance, 132-0, easily eclipsed the provisional standard of 127-7, although it was not her best throw of the season. The only other Muhlenberg athlete to compete at the meet did improve her standing on the NCAA performance list, but barely. Senior Danielle Seiler was fourth in the 400 intermediate hurdles in 1:03.82, five hundredths of a second faster than her winning time at the Centennial Conference Championships. Before the meet, Mitchell ranked 11th in Division III in the javelin, and Seiler was 23rd in the hurdles. Both will get one last chance to climb the list when they join 15 teammates at the ECAC Championships at Springfield later this week. |
