Seiler Danielle Seiler either extended her career or finished it with one of her best races.

The Muhlenberg senior ran a school-record 1:02.95 in the 400-meter intermediate hurdles on the second day of the ECAC Championships. More importantly, it is the last day to qualify for the NCAA Championships, and Seiler greatly improved her chances.

Coming into the meet, Seiler (right) ranked 23rd on the Division III performance list with a time of 1:03.82. Her second-place performance at ECACs would jump her to 13th, if no one else in between ran a better time. Last year, the NCAA invited 18 athletes in the 400 hurdles, including Seiler, who had the 11th-best time.

The official field for the NCAA Championships is scheduled to be announced on Sunday afternoon. Seiler, senior Karen Mount (1,500 meters) and junior Sarah Mitchell (javelin) are the Mules with the best chances of getting invited.

Two Mules earned sixth-place finishes on the second day of the ECAC meet: junior Steve Rothwell in the 1,500 meters and freshman Hannah Sylvester in the heptathlon. Sylvester made a nice comeback after falling in the first event (the 100-meter hurdles). She also had to deal with a torrential downpour on Friday morning.

The Muhlenberg women finished 23rd in the team standings.
