A strong second day lifted the Muhlenberg womens track and field team to a second-place finish at the Centennial Conference Championships. The Mule men slipped to sixth in a close competition that saw fourth place and sixth place separated by only 10 points. The women scored 107 points on the second day alone and finished with 138 points, second in their history only to the 173.5 they scored last year, when they won the championship. Haverford ran away with the meet, scoring 185 points. Muhlenberg has finished first or second at the last four CC meets (indoor and outdoor). Incredible, said junior Jacquelyn Inverso, who won one of the Mules five gold medals, of the second-place finish. Everybody put everything they had into this meet, and thats all you can ask for. Haverford is just a very good team. In addition to Inverso, who won the triple jump, Muhlenberg got gold-medal performances from seniors Karen Mount (800 and 1,500) and Danielle Seiler (400 hurdles) and junior Sarah Mitchell (javelin). Junior Lex Mercado won the 800 meters to give the mens team its lone gold of the final day and its second of the meet. For more on the Mules first-place finishers, see page 2.
