FINKELSTEIN REPEATS ON ACADEMIC FIRST TEAM

Jason Finkelstein, a recent Muhlenberg graduate, has been named to the CoSIDA/ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District II College Division Men’s Track & Field/Cross Country first team for the second year in a row.

Finkelstein will move onto the national ballot for Academic All-America consideration. The Academic All-America teams are scheduled to be announced on June 20.

District II College Division consists of all NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA colleges and universities in Delaware, the District of Columbia, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and West Virginia. To be nominated for the team, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore with a 3.2 cumulative grade-point average and a starter or significant reserve on his or her team.

Jason Finkelstein Finkelstein, who graduated with a political science major and double minor in economics and history, received an NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship for the indoor track season. He won two gold medals at the 2006 Centennial Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships, in the 4x400- and 4x800-meter relays, and earned bronze medals in the same two events at the CC outdoor meet. In his first three years, Finkelstein earned three bronze medals as a relay team member at CC championship meets. He also ran on the distance medley relay squad that placed fifth at the 2005 ECAC Championships.

Danielle Seiler Another graduated senior, Danielle Seiler, made the Academic All-District women’s second team. A biology major, Seiler was the four-time CC champion in the 400-meter intermediate hurdles, competing in the NCAA Championships in that event the last three years. She won nine career gold medals at CC championship meets (six outdoors, three indoors) and was named Most Outstanding Performer of the 2005 outdoor meet, leading the Mules to their first championship.
