MEN’S TENNIS FALLS TO FORDS

Michael DiVita
DiVita (pictured) and Ness are 3-0 on the season as doubles partners.
The Muhlenberg men’s tennis team opened up Centennial Conference play against a tough opponent – nationally ranked No. 30 Haverford – and battled hard but fell, 6-3. Muhlenberg’s three team points were the first that any team has scored against Haverford this year.

Senior Michael DiVita and sophomore Tim Ness recorded the first victory of the day for the Mules, winning 8-3 at No. 3 doubles.

In singles, freshman Mark Apostolos won the first match of his career at No. 6 in three sets. After winning the first set, 6-4, he struggled in the second and dropped that one, 6-0. He and his opponent stayed close in the third set, but with the score tied at 5-5, Apostolos won the final two games for the set and the match.

Junior Jamie Goldman earned the other singles win for Muhlenberg, defeating his opponent in straight sets.

All of the doubles matches were played indoors, while the singles matches were split between the indoor and outdoor courts.
