To make it easier for family and friends who came to honor her on Senior Day, Pam Kimmelman, the only senior on the Muhlenberg womens tennis team, played her No. 2 singles match on Court 1 at Deitrich Fieldhouse. Court 2, where she normally
Kimmelman wasnt on the special court for very long. She won the first nine games in a 6-0, 6-2 victory that helped the Mules to a 5-4 win against Gettysburg in their last Centennial Conference home match of the season. With the win, Muhlenberg (5-5, 5-3) remained in fifth place in the CC with two matches remaining, both on the road against teams ahead of them: Washington (6-3) and Franklin & Marshall (7-1). The top four teams qualify for the playoffs. The 5-4 final was the sixth this year, and in all of them the Mules won at first doubles and first through third singles. The deciding match in the Muhlenberg wins was at No. 2 doubles, and sophomore Carly Rotfeld and freshman Danielle Weiss came through against the Bullets by taking the last five games to win, 8-4. For the ninth time in 12 matches, sophomore Jenn Powell, Kimmelman and Rotfeld all won in straight sets at the top three singles spots. The trio is a combined 32-4 this year, with Rotfeld a perfect 12-0. |
