MENS GOLF EIGHTH
The Muhlenberg mens golf team opened its spring season by tying for eighth out of 23 teams at the Lebanon Valley Spring Tournament. The Mules were nine strokes off the lead in a tightly bunched field in which eight teams shot between 335 and 339. Sophomore Bill Snow led Muhlenberg with an 82. Freshman Paul DAuria, who competed as an individual in his only previous round with the Mules, was next with an 84.

The Mules were second out of four complete teams, behind only Division II Kutztown. They finished 27 strokes ahead of Dickinson and 54 ahead of Franklin & Marshall two teams that are expected to be top challengers for the Centennial Conference championship. Muhlenbergs team score of 384 was its second-best ever. The Mules shot a 375 while winning the 2005 Dickinson Invitational, but that came at a course far less challenging than Lehigh Country Club. Their previous low score at the Muhlenberg Invitational was 416. Only five Division III golfers shot in double digits, and three of them were from the home team. Freshman Kimberly Snyder, playing for the third day in a row, was second with an 84. Senior Kristen Amore shot a 91 at home for the second year in a row, and junior Dana Lynn Bielecki carded a 93. Among the other competitors was the medalist at the 2006 CC Championships, a Franklin & Marshall player who scored a 101. |
