Two reach milestones in softball win
Muhlenberg softball team gave new head coach Roni Rivera her first win with a 7-0 shutout of Eastern Mennonite in the second of two games in Kissimmee, Fla.
Neumann scored a run in the top of the seventh to win the first game, 7-6. Ferrigno went 3-for-4 with a double and two RBI in the Eastern Mennonite game to become the 20th player in team history to reach the century mark. Sophomore Ashley Brewer was 4-for-4 and drove in a pair of runs to support the pitching of classmate Alyssa Bruckner (left), who scattered nine hits for her first career shutout. Senior Samantha Crist, sophomore Jess Kasza and freshman Maggie Scarpelli all contributed two singles to Muhlenberg’s season-high total of 14 hits.
The Mules (1-3) tied a school record with three triples (by Ferrigno, Brewer and Kasza) in the Neumann game.
