track and field teams go the distance
After losing 7-2 to regionally ranked Washington on Saturday, the Muhlenberg women’s tennis team continued south to take on a nationally ranked
team. No. 16 Mary Washington swept the singles to close out an 8-1 win.
Juniors Danielle Winston and Lindsay Schmidt gave the Mules their lone point with an 8-6 win in a long match at second doubles.
At Bucknell, senior Jennifer Lynch ran in a special invitational 5,000 meters and broke her own school record, running a 17:39.00.
Sophomore Nicolette Miller established a personal record in the 1,500.
Distance runners also fared well at Moravian. Senior Jayne Condon won the 5,000 with the fourth-fastest performance in school history,
and junior Ryan Wilson (left) ran the fifth-fastest steeplechase in school history.
Junior Bobby Torphy placed second in the 800, and his time was good for fifth on the Mules’ performance list.
