Saturday, March 6 BASEBALL Guilford 22, Muhlenberg 7; Guilford 9, Muhlenberg 2. The Mules dropped a doubleheader in Greensboro, N.C., on their way down to Florida for Spring Break. Junior CHUCK DRAPER got Muhlenberg on the board in the first game by belting his second home run of the season. Freshman JON ELIAS hit a two-run homer in the seventh in just his fourth career at-bat. Freshman RYAN WHITE struck out five in three innings in his collegiate debut. An RBI single by sophomore DAVID WOLF was one of the Mules' four hits in the second game. Click here for line scores.
Sunday, March 7 SOFTBALL Montclair State 2, Muhlenberg 0; Muhlenberg 6, Mt. Union 2. The Mules opened up their 1999 season at the Rebel Spring Games in Ocoee, Fla., by splitting a pair against teams ranked in the Division III preseason poll. In the opener, junior HEATHER DREBY took a three-hit shutout into the bottom of the sixth against 22nd-ranked Montclair State before allowing two runs. Senior KHARA PAPPADAKIS had Muhlenberg's lone hit, a fourth-inning single. Senior ELIZABETH BILLIE drove in a career-high five runs, three on a fourth-inning double, in the second game to lead Muhlenberg past Mt. Union, which received votes in the preseason poll. Freshman ANGIE TYSON, making her first career start, pitched a four-hitter to get the win. Click here for line scores.
