WOMEN’S HOOPS STAYS UNDEFEATED
Randi Baran
This three-pointer by Baran, her only field goal of the game, gave the Mules a 39-37 lead early in the second half.
Senior Lindsay St. Lawrence scored 15 points and recorded a career-high seven steals to lead the Muhlenberg women’s basketball team to a 68-64 win at Moravian (2-3).

The win improves the Mules’ best start since 1975 to 5-0 and was their first at Johnston Hall in 11 games, dating back to 1988.

In a nip-and-tuck second half that saw neither team lead by more than six points, the Greyhounds took a 62-60 lead on three free throws with 3:31 left. The Mules closed to within one on a foul shot by sophomore Becky Richmond, then took the lead for good when sophomore Susan Marchiano hit both ends of a one-and-one with 1:48 on the clock.

A steal by junior Randi Baran led to a St. Lawrence layup with just over a minute left, making the score 65-62. After two Moravian free throws, Baran iced the game by going 3-for-4 from the line in the final 33 seconds.

Muhlenberg held Moravian without a field goal for the final 4:50 and limited the Grehounds to 33.9-percent shooting from the field.

Marchiano scored 13 points, narrowly missing a double-double with nine rebounds. Richmond finished with 12, and senior Jenn Risley had a career-high six assists.
