A weekly look at what’s going on in the Centennial Conference:

Women’s Basketball
Muhlenberg isn’t the only team in the CC with a long winning streak. Johns Hopkins extended its streak to six with big wins against Washington and Bryn Mawr, and Western Maryland and Franklin & Marshall have each won five in a row. F&M moved ahead of Gettysburg in the standings with a 76-66 win ... Hopkins and Western Maryland play each other this Saturday, as do the top two teams in the East, Muhlenberg and Swarthmore ... Washington broke into the CC win column with a 68-56 victory against Ursinus ... Bryn Mawr trailed Dickinson by only five points at halftime before the Red Devils pulled away for a 74-45 win.

Men’s Basketball
Three days after suffering its first CC loss at Muhlenberg, Gettysburg toppled Franklin & Marshall, 79-69, behind 35 points from Curtis McNeil. That left the CC with no teams unbeaten in league play ... Ursinus began the week 2-0 but lost to F&M and Washington ... Dickinson knocked off Swarthmore and Western Maryland to extend its winning streak to five. The Red Devils have a tough week ahead of them with games against Elizabethtown, Johns Hopkins (which has also won five in a row) and F&M.

MEN’S BASKETBALL WINS EIGHTH STRAIGHT

to defeat Widener, 91-77, for its eighth consecutive win.

The Mules are now 11-3, their best record after 14 games since the 1968-69 season. The Pioneers (9-5) had their six-game winning streak snapped.

In addition to recording his fifth career 30-point game, Lesko pulled down 16 rebounds (one short of his career high) and blocked four shots.

Junior Anthony Strachan also had a big game for Muhlenberg, matching his career high with 19 points and adding seven rebounds and five assists.

Widener, which led by as many as nine points in the first half, held a 44-43 advantage five minutes into the second half before the Mules went on a 21-6 run to take control of the game. Three players combined for all 21 points: Lesko (10), Strachan (six) and junior Toomey Anderson, who finished with 15 points.

Muhlenberg shot 51 percent and scored 55 points in the second half en route to a season high in points.

Lesko’s 32 points gave him 1,212 for his career, making him the 13th player in team history to reach the 1,200 level. He also moved to within six of the school record of 142 career blocked shots.
