MENS BASKETBALL WINS EIGHTH STRAIGHT
Senior Mark Lesko scored 23 of his 32 points in the second as the Muhlenberg mens basketball team pulled away from a halftime tie
The Mules are now 11-3, their best record after 14 games since the 1968-69 season. The Pioneers (9-5) had their six-game winning streak snapped. In addition to recording his fifth career 30-point game, Lesko pulled down 16 rebounds (one short of his career high) and blocked four shots. Junior Anthony Strachan also had a big game for Muhlenberg, matching his career high with 19 points and adding seven rebounds and five assists. Widener, which led by as many as nine points in the first half, held a 44-43 advantage five minutes into the second half before the Mules went on a 21-6 run to take control of the game. Three players combined for all 21 points: Lesko (10), Strachan (six) and junior Toomey Anderson, who finished with 15 points. Muhlenberg shot 51 percent and scored 55 points in the second half en route to a season high in points. Leskos 32 points gave him 1,212 for his career, making him the 13th player in team history to reach the 1,200 level. He also moved to within six of the school record of 142 career blocked shots. |
