MENS BASKETBALL EARNS FIRST RANKING
The Muhlenberg mens basketball team, currently on a 10-game winning streak, shows up in the rankings for the first time this season. The Mules (13-3) received honorable mention in the regional poll released by the NCAA Division III Mens Basketball Committee. For each of the eight regions, teams are ranked 1-6, and then up to four others are listed alphabetically for honorable mention in the weekly poll. Here are the Mid-Atlantic rankings for Jan. 22:
1t. Catholic (15-1)
Honorable mention: The Mules have defeated two other regionally ranked teams, Gettysburg and Richard Stockton (tied for sixth in the Atlantic). Muhlenberg also dented the d3hoops.com poll for the first time ever, receiving four votes to tie for 40th. Among Centennial Conference schools, Franklin & Marshall is ranked 17th and Gettysburg 30th. |
MULE WOMEN SLIP TO NO. 11
The Muhlenberg womens basketball team slipped from eighth to 11th in the d3hoops.com national Division III poll after losing its first game of the season at Swarthmore on Saturday. The Mules (13-1) are still one of only 11 teams in Division III with no more than one loss. Johns Hopkins, one of the others and Muhlenbergs opponent next Saturday, is ranked 16th, while Swarthmore is 27th.
