HAPPY HOLIDAYS!
Mule Sports Daily will resume on Wednesday, January 2, 2002. Happy Holidays to all our readers.
Twas the night before Christmas,
I had come down the chimney
I looked all about,
No stocking by mantle,
With medals and badges,
For this house was different,
The soldier lay sleeping,
The face was so gentle,
Was this the hero
I realized the families
Soon round the world,
They all enjoyed freedom
I couldnt help wonder
The very thought
The soldier awakened
I fight for freedom,
The soldier rolled over
I kept watch for hours,
I didnt want to leave
Then the soldier rolled over,
One look at my watch, |
MENS BASKETBALL WINS TOURNAMENT CHAMPIONSHIP
![]() Senior Mark Lesko scored a season-high 27 points and added 11 rebounds to lead the Muhlenberg mens basketball team to a 76-71 win over Manchester in the championship game of the Muskingum Holiday Tournament. Not including Moravians Greyhound Classic, which Muhlenberg competes
Leskos three-point play 11 seconds into the second half broke a 38-all halftime tie and gave Muhlenberg (6-3) the lead for good. The Mules extended their margin to as many as eight points before the Spartans (6-5) closed to within three with 45 seconds remaining. Four consecutive made free throws, two apiece by juniors Aaron Holden and Anthony Strachan, helped put the game away. Senior Bill Cwieka scored 13 of his season-high 15 points in the first half, and Holden also finished with 15. Although out-rebounded 42-31, Muhlenberg committed only four turnovers the entire game and shot 82.1 percent from the free-throw line. There was no All-Tournament Team selected, but Lesko would have been a good candidate for MVP honors. He scored 51 points in the two games while shooting 17-of-23 from the field. Holden scored 35 points in the tournament and Cwieka poured in 25. The Mules, who have won three in row, have off until Jan. 4, when they will travel further west for a tournament at Whittier College in California. |
