WOMEN, LESKO AMONG STATISTICAL LEADERS
Through games of January 20, the Muhlenberg womens basketball team and senior Mark Lesko of the Muhlenberg mens basketball team each appeared four times among the Division III statistical leaders. The women ranked 13th in scoring offense (76.7 points per game), 15th in scoring margin (19.3 points per game) and 26th in rebound margin (8.3 per game). Sophomore Susan Marchiano was seventh with her field-goal percentage of .626. Lesko was fifth in field-goal percentage (.660), 12th in rebounding (10.4 per game) and 27th in blocked shots (2.1 per game). And although he wasnt listed, his scoring average of 20.4 points per game ranked 35th. |
WINTER TEAMS CONTINUE WINNING TREND
Coming on the heels of a fall season in which Muhlenberg teams combined to win two-third of their contests, the winter season is even better so far. The womens and mens basktball and wrestling teams have a combined record of 40-11 (.784), including a 14-4 mark in the Centennial Conference. The basketball teams in particular are on uncommon ground. Of the more than 350 Division III schools that sponsor basketball programs for both women and men, only four had fewer than the Muless five combined losses through games of last night:
