WOMEN STILL THIRD IN REGION
Muhlenberg has been ranked third in the Mid-Atlantic Region by the NCAA Division III Womens Basketball Committee for the second straight week. These are the rankings that are used as guidelines when selecting the field for the NCAA Tournament. Following is the poll for Jan. 29. Since the emphasis is on regional play, only in-region games are included in the records.
1. Kings (13-1) |
MULE WOMEN RANKED 18th
The Muhlenberg womens basketball team fell from 11th to 18th in the d3hoops.com national Division III poll after losing in overtime at Western Maryland on Saturday. The Mules (14-2) are the lone Centennial Conference team in the top 25, as Johns Hopkins slipped to 31st after dropping two games during the week. Western Maryland received votes for the first time all year and is ranked 35th, one spot ahead of Swarthmore. The Centennial is one of only two Division III conferences that has four teams receiving votes in the poll (the other is the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference). In the USA Today/ESPN/WBCA poll, Muhlenberg is tied for 18th and Johns Hopkins is tied for 25th.
