MULES COME BACK TO WIN 10th STRAIGHT
Sophomore Susan Marchiano recorded her second consecutive double-double with 20 points and 12 rebounds as the Muhlenberg womens basketball team came from behind to defeat DeSales, 72-62, and remain undefeated for the season. In addition to extending their school-record winning streaks to 10 games overall and
Muhlenberg shot just 26.5 percent in the first half and trailed DeSales by seven points (20-13) with seven minutes left before intermission. The gap was four (28-24) at halftime, but the 25th-ranked Mules opened up the second half on a 17-3 run to build a 10-point lead. Marchiano scored six points and also recorded three of her five blocks during the surge. The Bulldogs closed to within three points, at 59-56, with under four minutes remaining, but a three-pointer by senior Lindsay St. Lawrence kicked off a 13-2 run that put the game away. The Mules doubled their first-half output with 48 points in the second half. St. Lawrence finished with 13 points and eight rebounds, while senior Jenn Risley and junior Randi Baran scored 11 apiece. Sophomore Becky Richmond pulled down 10 rebounds to help Muhlenberg to a 59-47 advantage on the boards. |
