In addition to the games, the Ebony Angels Double Dutch Team will perform a jump-roping exhibition and there will be an Ugly Sneaker contest. Winterfest V also will mark the return of Semcycle, a juggling, acrobatic, unicycle act. Admission to the games is free.

The basketball action tips off with the men’s alumni game at 12:00. At 2:00, the men’s varsity teams from Muhlenberg and Johns Hopkins square off. The Mules (15-4, 6-2) are in first place in the CC East Division and had their lead increased to two games when Ursinus lost at Haverford on Wednesday. The Blue Jays (11-8, 5-3) find themselves in third place in the West following a 68-65 loss to Gettysburg at the buzzer on Wednesday. A Hopkins win in that game would have resulted in a three-way tie for first.

The men’s game will feature the top two scoring offenses in the CC (JHU at 76.2 ppg and Muhlenberg at 74.0) as well as two of the league’s top big men. Senior Mark Lesko of the Mules leads the CC in scoring (20.6 ppg) and field-goal percentage (.636) and is second in rebounding (10.1 rpg) and blocked shots (42). Blue Jay junior Steve Adams (14.5 ppg, 6.5 rpg) is second with a field-goal percentage of .605.

The women’s game, scheduled for 4:00, matches two nationally ranked teams. Muhlenberg (15-2, 7-2) is ranked 18th by d3hoops.com and the WBCA, while West-leading Johns Hopkins (17-3, 8-1) is 31st and 25th in the two polls, respectively. Both teams rank among the Division III leaders in scoring offense, scoring margin and rebound margin.

Just like the men’s game, the women’s contest features the players ranked 1-2 in the CC in shooting percentage. Junior Kathy Darling of Johns Hopkins is shooting at a .602 clip and averages 14.2 points and 7.6 rebounds. Sophomore Susan Marchiano (.576) leads the Mules with averages of 14.5 points and 9.4 rebounds.

The Blue Jays and Mules are no strangers to each other, having met in the postseason each of the last six years, including five straight times in the CC championship game. Hopkins leads the series, 11-4.
