THREE MUHLENBERG PLAYERS NAMED TO ALL-CC WOMENS TEAM
Following the best regular season in its history, the Muhlenberg
womens basketball team has placed three members on the All-Centennial
Conference team.
Sophomore forward Susan Marchiano was named to the first team, while
senior guard Jenn Risley made the second team and junior guard
Randi Baran received honorable mention.
The 14th-ranked Mules (21-3) won the championship of the CC East Division
and open the playoffs at home on Wednesday against Western Maryland. The
Green Terror advanced to the semifinals by edging Johns Hopkins, 70-68, in
the West Division second-place tiebreaker game.
In her first season as a starter, Marchiano leads Muhlenberg and ranks
among the CC leaders in scoring (14.9 ppg), rebounding (9.0 rpg),
field-goal percentage (.576), blocked shots (31) and steals (60). She has
scored in double figures 18 times, topping the 20-point mark on seven
occasions and recording nine double-doubles. Marchiano was named CC player
of the week twice during the season.
Risley returned to the All-CC team after earning second-team honors two
years ago. She is averaging 9.3 points per game and is second on the team
with 56 assists. A three-year team captain, Risley also ranks among the CC
leaders with a .743 free-throw percentage and is one of 13 players in team
history to score at least 800 career points.
Baran had a breakthrough season as the Mules starting point guard,
averaging 7.7 points per game and dishing out 99 assists to rank second in
the CC. She also is second on the team with 48 steals and 27
three-pointers, including a then-school-record six against Western
Maryland.
