The other two teams to defeat Muhlenberg this season are also ranked in their respective regions. St. Lawrence is third in the East, and Southern Maine is fifth in the Northeast.

Wrestling Streak Snapped by King’s

The Muhlenberg wrestling team had its four-match winning streak snapped with a 31-10 loss to 18th-ranked King’s.

The Mules (9-5) won three of the 10 bouts. At 133, sophomore Jeremy Hart needed extra time to record his 17th win of the season. He trailed his opponent, 3-2, at the end of regulation time, but had a riding-time advantage of exactly one minute, and the bout went into overtime tied at 3-3. After a scoreless sudden-death period, Hart chose down for the rideout and escaped in 15 seconds.

Freshman Dale Mills extended his winning streak to 14 with a 16-4 victory at 149. It was his eighth major decision of the season — just one short of the school record.

At 157, senior Joe Salerno bounced back from an early takedown for a 10-5 win. He took a 5-4 lead with a takedown of his own with 15 seconds left in the second period, then recorded two more takedowns in the final 20 seconds to win his sixth straight bout.
