Sophomore Rebecca Armstrong and junior Dawn Iberer, forwards on the Muhlenberg women’s soccer team, were named to the All-Mid-Atlantic Team by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.

The duo combined for two-thirds of the 42 goals scored by the Mules in 2002. Armstrong, a second-team selection, had 11 goals and five assists. Iberer earned a spot on the third team with team-leading totals of 17 goals and 38 points.

It is the second consecutive season on the All-Region team for both players.

Justin Jones

The coaches gave Jones a big “thumbs-up” for his performance.

Senior quarterback Justin Jones of the Muhlenberg football team has been selected as ECAC Southwest player of the year by the region’s coaches.

It is the second player-of-the-year honor for Jones, who also was the Centennial Conference offensive player of the year. He passed for 2,042 yards and 18 touchdowns while rushing for 102 yards and six more TDs, leading the Mules to a 10-2 record and the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

Joining Jones as first-team ECAC Southwest All-Stars were senior linebacker Beau Sherry, the team leader with 91 tackles and four fumble recoveries; junior running back Matt Bernardo, who rushed for 1,393 yards and scored 22 touchdowns; and senior kicker Chris Reed, the Division III leader with 16 field goals.
