Mule Women Cling to Scoring Lead
After being held under 80 points in two of its last three games, the Muhlenberg womens basketball team has a slim lead in the NCAA all-divisions scoring race. The Mules scoring average has slipped to 92.19 points per game, barely ahead of Division I DePauls 92.05 points per game. Those are the only two NCAA womens teams with averages in the 90s. Muhlenberg still has a wide margin in Division III. Second-place Mississippi College is at 83.47 ppg. There are only five Division III teams averaging at least 80 points a game. In the rankings for three-point field goals made, the Mules have widened their lead. They are now the only NCAA womens team averaging in double figures in three-pointers per game. With 163 three-pointers, Muhlenberg has already broken the previous school record of 144 threes in a season, set last year. With nine games remaining in the regular season, the Mules are also on pace to break the Centennial Conference mark of 180 in a season, set by Washington last year, as well as the Division III standard of 253, set by Whittier in 1995-96. Entering the season, the school record for three-pointers in a game was 10. The Mules have passed that mark 10 times, with a high of 13 on three occasions. |
