McDaniel suffered its first loss of the season, by one point to Lebanon
Valley, but defeated Washington by 20 and Gettysburg by 16 to move to the
early lead in the CC ... Johns Hopkins won against Gettysburg, 65-59 ...
The Swarthmore scores from the week looked like they came from the
pre-shot clock era. After defeating Ursinus, 61-51, for its first CC
victory, the Garnet won games
by scores of 41-36 and 44-38 in the Seven Sisters Tournament. Swat lost to
Mt. Holyoke, 54-49, in the championship. Haverford finished sixth and Bryn
Mawr eighth.

CC play began with McDaniel’s 60-49 win at Dickinson ... Franklin &
Marshall made two free throws with 2:28 left to nip Haverford, 69-67
... Defending CC champion Ursinus won its league opener, 83-76 at
Swarthmore, and Gettysburg also started 1-0 by knocking off McDaniel,
61-53 ... Johns Hopkins suffered its first two losses of the season, to
Illinois Wesleyan and Claremont, in a tournament at Washington (Mo.).
