Womens Basketball Sets One Record, Close to Another
Its official: The Muhlenberg womens basketball team takes a lot of three-pointers. With their 34 attempts Saturday at McDaniel, the Mules broke
The Mules have made 243 of their shots from behind the arc and need 11 more to break Whittiers Division III mark of 253. Whittier achieved the record in 25 games; Muhlenberg plays its 25th game Tuesday at Ursinus. Berg leads Division III in three-pointers made per game with 10.13, just ahead of Waynesburg (9.95). The Yellow Jackets have finished their regular season and begin the Presidents Athletic Conference playoffs with a game at Grove City on Tuesday. Division II West Liberty State has moved into first place by the slimmest of margins in the all-divisions three-point race. The Hilltoppers average 10.17 threes per game. Muhlenberg is still to the top-scoring team in NCAA womens basketball with its average of 90.4 points per game. Second-place DePaul scored only 53 points on Sunday and saw its average slip to 86.8. Division II California (Pa.) and Drury are third and fourth, respectively, with averages of 85.8 and 85.7 points per game. The Mules have a big lead on Buena Vista (81.0 ppg) for the Division III scoring title. |
