The Muhlenberg men’s basketball team suffered its fourth straight defeat, losing at Haverford, 79-46.

Freshman Jeff Stewart led all players with 17 points and 10 rebounds. It was his sixth double-double of the season. The Mules dropped to 6-13, 4-8 in the Centennial Conference. The Fords are 7-11 (5-7).

Wrestling Wins Four Bouts, Drops Match

The Muhlenberg wrestling team won as many contested bouts as 27th-ranked Ursinus, but did not pick up nearly as many points, falling by a score of 34-15.

Muhlenberg (3-12, 0-3) and Ursinus (11-1, 5-0) each won four contested bouts, but the Mules forfeited two weight classes and Ursinus won three times by fall.

Sophomore Dale Mills had the only ’Berg pin. Down 4-3 in the third period at 149, Mills reversed his opponent and pinned him at 6:23. Mills’ ninth pin of the season improved his record to 19-8.

Freshman Matt Loesch (197), senior Josh Carter (heavyweight) and junior Jeremy Hart (141) each won decisions for the Mules.

Loesch led throughout on the way to a 6-2 decision to improve to 17-3. Carter’s match was close but uneventful until he came up with two third period takedowns and won, 5-2. He is now 20-6.

Hart trailed by a point after a period, but started down and escaped in the second. He scored a takedown with just four seconds left in the period and got another late in the third to seal the 6-3 win and improve to 12-11.
