The Muhlenberg indoor track and field teams opened their 2005 season with a successful night at the Kutztown Invitational, where they competed against many Division II runners. The Mules did not return to practice until Tuesday and practiced hard leading up to the Friday meet. Despite the heavy week, the teams competed extremely well for the first meet.

Four Muhlenberg women broke the previous school record in the 300 meters, led by senior Danielle Bovelle, the new record-holder in 46.44 seconds.

Other meet highlights:

John Brodowski

Although all three events were going on concurrently and he had to scurry back and forth from one to the other, senior John Brodowski placed third in the 55 hurdles, fourth in the high jump and fifth in the long jump.

Samantha Sachleben, Danielle Seiler, Stephanie

Senior Samantha Sachleben, junior Danielle Seiler and sophomore Stephanie Conicella (left to right) all finished in the top seven in the 800 meters, with Sachleben coming in third.

Jenna Belisonzi

Senior Jenna Belisonzi, competing in indoor track for the first time at Muhlenberg, was fourth in the mile and led off the fourth-place distance medley relay team.

Calvin Tintle

Senior Calvin Tintle ran the second leg on the men’s DMR team, which pulled off a dramatic first-place finish. Senior Christopher Martin got the baton in fourth place and passed three teams on the last lap to win by two seconds.

Lily Hatfield

Sophomore Lily Hatfield placed eighth in the long jump and anchored the third-place 4x400 relay-team.

Adam Carter

Adam Carter was one of several impressive freshmen, placing sixth in the high jump in his debut.

Rachel Drosdick

Sophomore Rachel Drosdick qualified for the final in the 55-meter high hurdles, finishing sixth. She also was third in the high jump and eighth in the long jump.
