Drosdick, Brodowski Excel in Pentathlon

Rachel Drosdick Sophomore Rachel Drosdick and senior John Brodowski both won and qualified for the ECAC Championships in the first pentathlon hosted by Muhlenberg.

Drosdick (left) had a sensational evening, shattering two school records and posting four ECAC-qualifying marks. Most impressive was her long jump of 17-10¾, which easily topped the old school mark of 16-3 and was an NCAA provisional qualifier.

Drosdick was within 20 points of the school record in the pentathlon after only three events and finished with 3,070, surpassing the ECAC standard of 2,700. Drosdick also qualified for ECACs with her personal-best high jump of 5-1¾ and her 55-meter hurdles time of 8.7 (also a personal best).

Brodowski fell just short of his school record of 3,247 points, but his score of 3,202 was good enough to qualify for ECACs. He won the pentathlon at the ECAC Championships as a freshman in 2002.

Sophomore Kim David also broke the previous school record in the pentathlon by nearly 400 points, finishing second with 2,349 points. For the men, freshman Adam Carter and senior Harry Kegelman were fifth and sixth, respectively, with the best scores not by Brodowski in team history.
