McCALL A FIRST-TEAM ALL-AMERICAN

Dan McCall Senior Dan McCall of the Muhlenberg football team earned his second All-America honor when he was recently named to the 2005 Football Gazette All-America first team.

McCall, who was previously named to the D3football.com All-America third team, also was cited as South Region linebacker of the year by Football Gazette.

McCall was the leader of a Mule defense that tied for 10th in Division III in yards allowed and ranked 14th in points allowed. He topped Muhlenberg in sacks (7½), tackles for loss (14½), fumbles recovered (four), fumbles forced (two), kicks blocked (two) and interceptions (two). McCall also was fourth on the team in total tackles (53) and third with six pass breakups. He returned two of his recovered fumbles for touchdowns.

In addition to his All-America accolades, McCall was named Centennial Conference defensive player of the year, first-team All-Centennial Conference, first-team All-South Region and South Jersey Division III player of the year. He was selected to play on the Division III all-star team at the Aztec Bowl in Toluca, Mexico, and recovered a fumble in Team U.S.A.’s 53-15 win.

McCall is the Mules' first defensive player to earn first-team All-America honors. The last Muhlenberg first-team All-American was kicker Chris Reed in 2002.
