Mules Move Up in Defensive Rankings
Courtney averaged 17.7 points and 11.3 rebounds per game in a 2-1 week for the Mules. She had double-doubles of 20 points and 12 rebounds in an overtime loss at Franklin & Marshall and 21 points and 14 rebounds in a 52-38 defeat of Gettysburg. She also hit the game-tying basket at the regulation buzzer in the F&M game and set a career high with five blocked shots against Gettysburg. For the season, Courtney is third in the CC in scoring (14.5 points per game) and blocked shots (1.39 blocks per game), fifth in rebounding (8.7 rebounds per game) and eighth in field-goal percentage (.451). Muhlenberg is 16-2 overall and a half-game out of first place in the CC with an 11-2 league record. Although the Mules slipped from 28th to a tie for 30th in the D3hoops.com national Division III poll, they moved up in the NCAA statistical rankings. Despite allowing a season-high 78 points to F&M, Muhlenberg lowered its scoring defense average to 49.7 (seventh in Division III) by giving up only 68 points in the other two games. The Mules also lowered their field-goal percentage defense from .322 to .312 good for sixth in the country. |
