Since 2000, the Muhlenberg wrestling team has dedicated itself to battling
an opponent more threatening than anything it faces on the mat: cancer.
The Mules have raised more than $20,000 for the American Cancer Society
through the Take Down Cancer program. The team raises money with
a bench
press-a-thon in the preseason and solicits donations at home wrestling
matches, basketball games and football games.

to Tom Harper, a representative of the American Cancer Society.

On a Sunday in early December, the Muhlenberg mens lacrosse
team braved
the wintry conditions and took time out to help clean up the city of
Allentown. The entire team and coaching staff traveled to an illegal
dumpsite off Union Street and helped Allentowns Bureau of Recycling
and
Solid Waste.
The team spent the afternoon picking up the Union Street site and
removing bags, tires, mattresses and illegal materials from this hillside
area that overlooks Martin Luther King Boulevard.
The Mules effort was part of Allentowns Clean & Green/Dont
Trash
Allentown project, which is a cooperative effort between people who care
and the
City of Allentown to reduce litter, promote community pride and beautify
Allentown.
