WOMEN’S HOOPS COMES BACK ON FORDS
Sophomore Lauren Boyle and senior Meghan Courtney combined for 40 points and hit back-to-back baskets to break a 52-all tie as the Muhlenberg women’s basketball team came from behind to defeat Haverford, 61-56.

The Mules (16-3, 11-3) trailed by nine points early in the second half before going on a 12-3 run to tie the score. The game remained close the rest of the way.

The teams were even with four minutes left before Courtney reeled in a pass from junior Abra Like on the baseline and made a layup to put Muhlenberg ahead, 54-52. After sophomore Erin McSherry intercepted a lob pass at the other end, Boyle hit a 17-foot jumper to extend the lead to four.

Haverford (4-14, 3-10) had two possessions trailing by three points in the final two minutes. Sophomore Kaitlyn O’Malley blocked a layup on the first one, and the second ended with the Fords taking a difficult shot with the shot clock winding down.

Muhlenberg converted four free throws in the final 41 seconds to ice the victory.

The Mules forced 29 turnovers in the game and held Haverford to one field goal in the final six minutes.

Boyle (right) finished with 21 points, and Courtney added 19 points and nine rebounds.
