Tom Scott

Scott played with a bandage over his left eye after taking an elbow early in the second half at McDaniel. This three-point play gave the Mules a 54-48 lead with nine minutes left.

Senior Tom Scott of the Muhlenberg men’s basketball team was named co-player of the week by the Centennial Conference.

Scott averaged 16.0 points and 7.5 rebounds in leading the Mules back in playoff contention with two wins. He scored a season-high 20 points in the 78-65 win against Swarthmore, then tallied 12 points and nine rebounds in the 69-68 victory at McDaniel. Scott also threw an inbounds pass that led to a foul call and the winning point with 1.5 seconds left in the McDaniel game.

The two wins put Muhlenberg (8-14, 7-9) into a four-way tie for the fifth and final playoff berth with two games remaining in the regular season. After dropping eight in a row, the Mules have captured three straight, beginning with a two-point win against Franklin & Marshall in which Scott hit the go-ahead free throws with 2.2 seconds left.

Scott is averaging 17.0 points and 8.7 rebounds in the three-game winning streak. For the season, he is second on the team in scoring (9.8 points per game), rebounding (4.8 rebounds per game), assists (36) and free throws made (49) and attempted (78).

Scott shared the CC weekly honor with Washington forward Joey Breslin.
