Many of you know that the Muhlenberg College Ice Hockey Club is an independent club.  The College pays for league fees but all other expenses must be funded by the individual players on the team.  Our expenses for running this club are in the range of $25,000-$35,000 annually.  Because we are self-supporting, we have to limit the number of practices and work hard to run the program on a shoestring.  Renting the ice arena for practices and home games cost over $19,000.  Our away game bus transportation expenses (traveling by bus is a league rule) are slightly over $7,000.  All playoff expenses are in addition to our regular season expenses.

With that said, it has been a challenge trying to keep the ice hockey club "affordable" to all students who have a love and passion for the game!  Unfortunately, we seem to lose a few players who simply cannot afford to pay $1,000 to play ice hockey.
