Muhlenberg College Ice Hockey Program
The Muhlenberg College Men’s Ice Hockey Club has enjoyed many successful season since its inception in the late 1960’s. Over the past six years the club has evolved into one of the top DII programs in the area under the guidance of Head Coach Ken Latteman and Associate Head Coach Bill Nixon. The team won the league championship in 2007, finished second in the championship finals twice and had two first place finishes in the league. The club has offered many students the opportunity to play competitive hockey while pursuing their degree at one of the most academically renowned colleges in the north east.
The ice hockey program at Muhlenberg College is very competitive. The team is professionally managed and our athletes are expected to conduct themselves with dignity both on and off the ice. The team plays between 25 – 30 games a year including pre-season and non-league games. Some of our non-league opponents have included Navy, Penn State and The University of Vermont. The team travels to all its away games on a private chartered bus. The team consistently carries a roster of about 20 players, with players coming from many different backgrounds. These include midgets, high school, prep school and junior level teams.
The team practices and plays its games at The Rink at Lehigh Valley located just 10 minutes from campus. Team practices are held twice a week in the afternoon which makes this conducive to evening study time. All home games are played on Friday nights at 7:45pm in front of the largest crowds in our league.
For prospective students hoping to enroll at Muhlenberg and join the team, the coaching staff extends an invitation to join the team at practice. However, this invitation is only reserved for those students applying to Muhlenberg and that have been in contact with the coaching staff.
