Welcome to Muhlenberg College's Investment Society! The Muhlenberg Investment Society seeks to build a broadly diversified portfolio, mainly using ETF's and Mutual Funds as investment vehicles. This semester we focused on the principles highlighted in Burton Malkiel's, A Random Walk Down Wall Street to implement this approach. Recent turbulence in the markets caused our group to dramatically rethink its strategy and reevaluate our risk management approach. Previous groups chose to use all stocks in the portfolio, which significantly increase risk, thus dramatically reducing returns in periods like today when volatility is high. This semester, the main goal of our class was to receive a portion of the Muhlenberg College endownment to allow future classes the opportunity to invest using the principles we discussed during the semester. After a presentation to the board of trustees by three of our students, we are now awaiting a response. Intro to Portfolio Management is a pre-requisite to joining the Muhlenberg Investment Society and will actively involve you in mastering how to invest and maximize your profits.

Acting prudently, the 10 fund managers along with our advisor chose to liquidate our previous portfolio and rebuild it using ETF's and Mutual Funds. Given the market's recent decline, and looking towards the long-term, our fund seeks to outperform the Muhlenberg College Endowment and the S&P 500. The current makeup of our portfolio, including details on our holdings and why they were chosen, can be accessed on the Portfolio page.
