Mission

By linking social action with reflection, Muhlenberg service opportunities strive to prepare students for their roles as citizens and leaders while addressing the needs of the surrounding community.  The Office of Community Service promotes mutually beneficial collaborations between the College, the Allentown community, and beyond by coordinating and supporting Muhlenberg’s varied service efforts.

Vision

The Community Service Office at Muhlenberg College is designed to promote, facilitate, and support positive interaction among students, faculty, and community members.  The Office provides leadership opportunities for students through community outreach projects and volunteer program coordination. 

We believe that the opportunity to volunteer truly enriches our students’ lives.  The Office runs in a way that allows students to initiate and coordinate projects without a risk of failure.  All attempts to serve and volunteer have some positive impact and provide an opportunity for learning. 

Service to society is an important part of a liberal arts education.  This component helps students take their education to another level.  Graduates who combine a strong academic background with valid, meaningful service are well prepared to be the leaders of the future.
