Facts about Service Learning at Muhlenberg

Service-learning
is a credit bearing, educational experience in which
students participate in an organized service activity that
meets identified community needs and reflect on the service
activity in such a way as to gain further understanding of
course content, a broader appreciation of the discipline,
and an enhanced sense of civic responsibility.

Service-Learning is
practiced at over 900 universities and by over two
million college students nationwide. Service-learning
enhances learning and fosters civic responsibility through
active involvement in academically-based community service.

learning initiative has been supported by a grant from The
Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.

Muhlenberg faculty have developed course with service
learning components.
